Inferno, purgatorio: Tonnes of drugs set ablaze

MARDAN: Tonnes of drugs were set on fire Tuesday morning after being seized during various crackdowns conducted by Mardan police. The directives were issued by Mardan sessions judge Aurangzeb Khattak. Around 3,750 kilogrammes of hashish, 1,473 kilogrammes of heroin, 1,646 litres of liquor and 3,918 kilogrammes of opium were set ablaze in front of media and locals under the supervision of Civil Judge Mohibur Rehman and DSP Shamroz Khan. The drugs were confiscated from smugglers and other criminals across the district in various crackdowns and search operations between the years 2007 and 2015.
