ABOTTABAD: A Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto district president was sent to DI Khan jail on Sunday. The accused was held under Section 3 of the Maintainance of Public Order.

Police said that on January 28, PPP-SB district president Salim Shah along with 25 activists and villagers was protesting against shifting of bus terminal on Shimla Hills Road. They staged a sit-in and blocked Karakoram Highway for four hours and as a result, hundreds of vehicles were stuck in a massive traffic jam.  When the situation worsened, police reached the spot and arrested Shah. They lodged an FIR against him but he obtained bail before arrest from the local court.

However, Shah’s wife Rahila said that the police raided their house in Habibullah Colony on January 29, and arrested Salim Shah again under Section 3 of the MPO.

She also accused the police of torturing her husband.

Meanwhile, the police also registered a criminal case against Shah’s wife under Sections 186 and 353 of the PPC for allegedly resisting his arrest and attacking a police constable during the process.
