Body of polio worker found in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR: Body of an official associated with polio campaign in Khyber Agency was recovered from the outskirts of Peshawar city on Friday, officials of the Fata Secretariat confirmed.

Agency surgeon Dr Niaz Muhammad Afridi told The Express Tribune that the deceased, Shah Faisal, was associated with the COMNet (UNICEF) in Jamrud sub-division of Khyber Agency.

Faisal went missing during the early hours of January 28, according to Dr Afridi.

His body was later recovered from the Regi Model town area, he added.

First day of polio campaign lifts spirits

"There was no active anti-polio drive in the area," Dr Afridi said, adding the incident could not be termed as a targeted attack for now.

The incident occurred on the day when K-P reported another polio case, bringing the total number of cases to 16 in the current year.
