Rights group says India using torture as war tactic

ISLAMABAD: Indian forces in held Kashmir use torture as weapon to punish Kashmiri detainees and to force them into becoming informers, or join organisations that counter freedom fighters’ groups, revealed a rights organisation.

“Torture is used to extract information, punish Kashmiri detainees and try to force them to become informers or join counter freedom fighters’ organisations,” said a report of Human Rights Watch (HRW).

Pakistan urges India to do away with practice of terror allegations

The report said the Indian forces are also engaged in extorting money from the victims’ families.

The most common forms of torture include severe beatings and electric shock. Detainees’ legs are often stretched apart and they are frequently suspended from the wrists, or upside down for extended periods, which can lead to paralysis.

One of the most insidious forms of torture is the use of a heavy log or roller to apply excruciating pressure on a detainee’s legs. The roller is rotated over the victim’s legs with a man sitting or standing on it. To enhance the pain, sometimes the number of people over the roller is multiplied.

Extensive use of the roller frequently leads to kidney damage. Severe beatings also induce kidney failure, as can electric shock.

Wow, thats what you Hindus-tanis call the population and people of your so called Atooot Aang; Read Article 370 of your Hindus-tani constitution and then see what you signed up for; You Hindus-tanis are visitors in J&K, you cannot own, procure land, business, peoperty, movable or im-movable assets, cannot participate or vote in J&K elections, just visit J&K. Article 370 of Hindus constitution and the signed Article of Accession of Hari Singh are the live and living living proof of Hindus occupation of J&K. Recommend

J&K is a State of India, duly annexed to India as per rules of independence from British India. The annexation was duly ratified by the constituent assembly of State of J&K as well as the British Parliament and Indian Parliament. Pakistan was the aggressor who attacked and occupied a part of J&K. The UN resolution of plebiscite could not be implemented because Pakistan did not withdraw its troops from their occupied territory thus not fulfilling the required precondition to carry out plebiscite. Pakistan just wants to foment religion based passion and division of society not only in J&K but also in other parts of India. The nefarious designs of Pakistan will never succeed and India knows how to administer its territory. India is a democracy which has a democratically elected Government in place in the State of J&K. India acts as per rule of law and democratic principles not religion based poisonous whims. Pakistan should mind its own business. In the quest of grabbing J&K it has already lost East Pakistan. Further division in its society and land is not impossible if it continues its nefarious activities to divide India on religious grounds.Recommend
