DERA GHAZI KHAN:

Police have filed a case against a man accused of pretending to be a policeman. The suspect had performed duties as a constable at various police stations and with intelligence agencies and had received salaries on fake receipts for years, police said. Sarfaraz Ahmad, a resident of Shaden Lund, had previously worked at several police stations. He had allegedly obtained fake transfer letters in connivance with some personnel at the Lahore CCPO’s office and the Multan police. They said that Asif Javed, a superintendent posted at the Dera Ghazi Khan DPO’s office, had filed a complaint against Ahmad.

Investigation Bureau District Inspector Muhammad Akram Khan Gorchani has been tasked with investigating the matter. The suspect was arrested by the Civil Lines police but was released on interim bail.

Separately, a case was filed against a constable on Sunday for not reporting or taking action against rampant child labour at some brick kilns in Dera Ghazi Khan. Police said Security Constable Ashiq Hussain had been appointed to keep records of brick kilns and keep a check on child labour in the area.

Police said that Hussain had taken bribes from some brick kiln owners and had not submitted the required report to the police station. On getting a complaint against him, the Dera Ghazi Khan DPO issued orders to file a case against the constable. Darahma SHO Ali Muhammad Chaudhry registered a case against the constable.
