FAISALABAD:

Scores of residents of Allama Iqbal Colony, Samundri Road, Thikriwala, Jhang, and their adjoining areas took to the streets on Sunday against unscheduled load shedding of natural gas in their localities.

They blocked the Faisalabad-Jhang Road and the Faisalabad-Samundri Road for traffic and burned old tyres and set up blockades. They shouted slogans against the SNGPL and demanded immediate restoration of gas supply at full pressure.

The adults were joined by children who carried kitchen utensils and shouted slogans. Abdul Haq, a resident of Allama Iqbal Colony, said, “We can neither have hot meals at breakfast nor dinner.” Akram Haidar, a nine-year-old, said, “My mom prepares breakfast before she dresses us for school…we were late to school thrice last week because we got our breakfast late.” An SNGPL spokesperson said there was gas shortage owing to the gap between demand and supply.
