Local government: 262 candidates vying for 76 reserve seats in Faisalabad

There are 151 candidates vying for 37 FMC seats

As many as 262 candidates have filed nomination papers for 76 reserved seats for Faisalabad Municipal Corporation and Faisalabad district council.


There are 151 candidates vying for 37 FMC seats. As many as 111 candidates have filed nomination papers for 39 reserved seats of Faisalabad District Council. There are 46 candidates for 15 reserved seats for women in the FMC; 17 people have filed nominations for eight seats reserved for technocrats; 46 nominations have been filed for eight seats reserved for labour, 33 candidates are vying for five minority seats and nine candidates have filed nominations on one reserved seat for the youth. For the district council, 33 candidates have filed nominations for 15 women seats, 20 for nine technocrat’s seats, 33 for nine peasant seats, 21 for five minorities seats and four candidates have filed their nomination papers on one reserved seat for youth. Nominations will be scrutinised by January 24. Candidates can submit their appeals on decisions on nomination papers by January 26. These appeals will be decided on January 28.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by January 29. Final lists of contesting candidates along with their election symbols will be issued the same day. Polling for reserved seats will be held on February 8.
