Cab service gaffe

Letter January 08, 2016
The Metro Cab staff are harassing me since the beginning of January, for a problem that I didn’t create myself

KARACHI: On a recent visit to Lahore in December 2015, I ran into some problems. I planned to take a Metro Cab from Hospitality Inn to LUMS. Being punctual, I arrived at the hotel’s lobby area before the ascertained time and kept waiting for a call or a text message from the cab service’s driver. It never came. I then decided to go out and check on the cab myself, only to be told by the hotel’s guards that the cab had already taken off with someone else. Perplexed, I called up the Metro Cab service and complained about the mix-up and the long wait I had been put through. The service promised to send another driver, but this time I refused to risk another slip-up and declined the offer, and took off for the destination through the hotel’s car service.

I thought I was done and through with the cab service. But that wasn’t the case. The Metro Cab staff are now harassing me since the beginning of January, for a problem that I didn’t create myself. I have received calls asking for payment for a cab ride I never took; and now, lately I’m being bombarded by text messages, asserting I have dues to clear. I have lost all patience. I request the Metro Cab service to take a look at their service standards and stop harassing honest citizens.
