KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain disbanded on Friday his party’s policy-making body Rabita Committee in London.

The party supremo disbanded the London-based Rabita Committee with an immediate effect and directed all party leaders and workers to contact Manzoor Ahmed for any further coordination, the party announced in a statement published on its website.

Reshaping MQM: Altaf suspends Rabita Committee

This is not the first time Hussain has dismissed policy makers to reshape his party’s structure. In July last year, the MQM Rabita Committee was suspended, except three members, as the body remained “unable to effectively perform its responsibilities despite several assurances.”

Kaiful Warah, Abdul Haseeb and Arif Khan Advocate had been spared, while the rest of the committee was advised against showing up at party headquarters Nine Zero.

MQM dismisses Rabita Committee heads in Pakistan, London

Earlier in February, Hussain dismissed heads of the Rabita Committee in both Pakistan and London. Party sources said Rabita committee in-charge in Pakistan Qamar Mansoor was removed after workers complained about his attitude numerous times.

The dismissed party officials had been appointed in December 2014, when Hussain had suspended the entire Rabita Committtee over their ‘unacceptable’ reacting to the killing of party leader, Bao Mohammad Anwar in Sialkot.

Final warning?: Stop crimes or leave MQM, Altaf tells workers

In March last year, the party chief had warned his workers to mend their ways or they will be expelled from the party. “Either leave the world of crimes or leave the party. The party will not tolerate you if you are caught committing crimes,” he appealed while addressing his party workers at the Lal Qila ground.
