Development: ‘Engineers hold the key to progress’

He praised the Pakistan Engineering Congress for promoting engineering education in the country

LAHORE: “Engineers have an important role in a country’s development. Pakistani engineers have performed well in all sectors, including irrigation,” Irrigation Minister Mian Yawar Zaman said on Saturday. He was speaking at the 73rd session of four-day Pakistan Engineering Congress at a local hotel. Pakistan Engineering Congress President Iftikhar Ahmed, Irrigation Secretary Mansoob Ali Zaidi, Irrigation Chief Engineer Malik Saleem and engineers from across the country were present at the occasion. The minister urged the engineers to play their role in addressing problems faced by people and realising the development priorities of the government. He praised the Pakistan Engineering Congress for promoting engineering education in the country. He said work on several mega development projects, including Lahore Orange Line Metro Train, was underway. He said these development schemes would usher in a new of era of economic progress in the country.
