Azhar, Hafeez to end camp boycott today

Chairman Shahryar Khan says both Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez will join the camp today

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan, assured on Saturday that the issue pertaining to Mohammad Amir is being resolved, and that both Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez will join the camp from today.

Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali met with Shahryar Khan at the PCB headquarters ahead of their arrival at the training camp, where the team prepares for the New Zealand tour.

“The issue is resolved and Hafeez and Azhar are coming to the camp,” Shahryar Khan confirmed, while agreeing with some reservations held by both players.



“I do agree with the some of their reservations,“ Shahryar said while speaking to the media outside PCB headquarters in Lahore.

The chairman explained that he requested the players to take the young 23-year old bowler forward, as this it is the duty of the captains and seniors to ensure the young player feels at ease.

“I said to both that he was just invited to the camp,” he said, adding that “If he [Amir] is selected, we want you to take him forward. Seniors and captains hold a greater responsibility as they must ensure Amir is made to feel that he is part of the team."

"We are a family now.” he concluded.

Earlier, the former T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez said his stance was not for any individual, and people misunderstood his viewpoint.

“I want to clear my stance, as I realised that a lot of people took it wrong and portray it the way they wanted to,” said Hafeez while addressing media at PCB headquarters in Lahore.



“People misunderstood my stance. It was simple and based on principle that anyone who hurt the pride of this country for the sake of money, should not be allowed to represent Pakistan again.”

“My stance was not against any individual [referreing to Muhammad Amir],” said Hafeez, asserting that “It was against everyone who was involved in such acts, and my stance will remain same for the rest of my life.”

The former T20 captain went on to say that PCB chairman assured him that he will look after his reservation.



“I met with PCB chairman, and he assured me that my reservations will be taken care of,” said Hafeez.

The right-handed batsman went on to say that representing Pakistan is a great honour for him, and playing for Pakistan is his passion.

The 35 years old went on to say that he has forgiven everyone who did anything wrong in the past. “As far as forgiving is concern, I forgive everyone who did anything wrong.”
