Mujahid Squad scorecard: Possession of drugs, illegal arms top the crime list

Hundred and thirty eight weapons, car and drugs and liquor seized in 394 cases in last six month of 2010.

KHANEWAL: Mujahid Squad seized 138 weapons held without permits, a stolen car, a large amount of drugs and liquor in 394 cases registered in the last six months of 2010.

This was stated by Mujahid Squad SP Muntazir Mehdi at a special meeting of senior police officers on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen.

Of the 394 cases, 226 were registered for possession of drugs, 144 for illegal arms, six for fireworks, four for violation of Kite-Flying Act, three for dacoity, two for one-wheeling, one each of vehicle theft, fake number plate, and impersonating a police official. Mehdi said that the squad seized 97 pistols, 917 bullets, a revolver, a Kalashnikov rifle, 18 pump-action hand guns, eight guns, 14 rifles, 308 cartridges, 17.86 kg hashish, 178 bottles of liquor, 1.2 kg heroin, 360 gm opium, eight packets of beer and a car in these cases. Twenty two cases for possession of illegal arms, 34 for drugs and six miscellaneous cases were registered at the Mujahid Squad check post at the New Ravi Bridge. Fouteen pistols, 46 bullets, a revolver, a Kalashnikov-rifle, two pump-action guns, two other guns, two rifles, a magazine, 10 cartridges, 1.93 kg hashish and 75 bottles of liquor were seized in these.

Eleven cases for possession of illegal arms, 37 for drugs and a miscellaneous case were registered at the check post at the Old Ravi Bridge. Eight pistols, 48 bullets, a rifle, 13 cartridges, 2.43 kg charas, eight bottles of liquor and 60 gm heroin were seized in these. Nineteen cases were registered for possession of illegal arms, 16 for drugs and eight others at the check post at Sagian Bridge. In these, six pistols, rifles and pump-action guns; 306 bullets, 244 cartridges, 3.51 kg hashish and seven bottles of liquor were seized.

Twenty six cases for illegal arms, 29 for drugs, one for vehicle theft and two miscellaneous cases were registered at the check post at Sherakot in the Allama Iqbal Town division. In these, 19 pistols, four guns, one rifle, two pump-action guns, 138 bullets, four cartridges, 2.16 kg hashish, 245 gm heroine, 120 gm opium and 43 bottles of liquor were seized.

Twenty five cases for illegal arms, 24 for drugs and three miscellaneous cases were registered at the check post at Gajjumata in Model Town division. In these, 18 pistols, two rifles, five pump-action guns, 109 bullets, 10 cartridges, 1.46 kg hashish and nine bottles of liquor were seized.  Twelve cases for illegal arms, 35 for drugs and three miscellaneous cases were registered at the check post at Thokar Niaz Baig in Saddar division.  Twelve pistols, 117 bullets, five cartridges, 2.76 kg charas, 715 gm heroine, 15 bottles of liquor and 240 gm opium were seized in these.  Twenty four cases for illegal arms, 36 for drugs and one miscellaneous case was registered at the check post at Bhopatiyan in Saddar division. In these, 17 pistols, four pump-action guns, a gun, a rifle, 139 bullets, 21 cartridges, 2.9 kg hashish and four bottles of liquor were seized.

Three cases for illegal arms, nine for drugs and two miscellaneous cases were registered at the check post at Mohafiz Town in Saddar division. Two pistols, a gun, 10 bullets, two cartridges, 610 gm hashish and three bottles of liquor were seized.  Two cases for illegal arms, six for drugs were registered at the check post at Shah Pur Kanjran in Saddar division. One pistol, one rifle, four bullets, two cartridges, 90 gm charas, 14 bottles of liquor and eight packets of beer were seized.
