LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday sought comments from the Sabzazar SHO on a petition filed by a woman seeking the registration of a case against her husband for marrying another woman.

Petitioner Kiran said that she had married Nawazish Ali without the consent of her family.

“We went to Gujranwala where we got married. Ali asked me not to tell anyone about the marriage until he could persuade his family to agree to our match.

He promised to bring a baraat to our home and then take me to his parents’ home. We have been married for four years. However, Ali is yet to fulfill his promise,” she said.

She said that she had now learnt that Ali had married another woman. “When I confronted him, he threatened me with dire consequences,” she said. She requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Ali.
