KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday called upon the people sitting in the power corridors to learn a lesson from history and stop imposing their own decisions on the masses.

“The clique at the top still continues their agenda for their own vested interest. They gave us bodies of our loved ones, torture our people and put them in jail for years,” he remarked while addressing a public gathering on the eve of the party’s 48th Foundation Day in Karachi’s Malir area.

“They divided the people in the name of religion and ethnicity. All ask them to stop making political orphans and robots,” he added.

Once again calling himself successor of PPP leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Bilawal said he would continue the Bhutto legacy and mission of his mother, Benazir Bhutto, by waging a war against terrorists and enemies of the country.

Unlike other foundation day celebrations, Bilawal was accompanied by no senior leader except for PPP vice president Sherry Rehman and provincial minister for information Nisar Khuhro.

“Bhutto is not only a name of a party or person; it is a reality, philosophy and approach which cannot be diminished,” the PPP chairman said in his emotional speech in Memon Goth Football ground which was jam-packed with people from Malir and its adjoining areas.

“In the present circumstances, Pakistan needs a dimension and determination to face the challenges and it can only be done by a young leadership,” he said. “Those who claim that the PPP’s days are numbered live in a fool’s paradise.”

Bilawal said that his party has always been targeted and despite various problems he has managed to be part of this mega event.
