Justice is served: Convict sentenced to life imprisonment

The ATC-IX judge, Farman Ali Kanasro, also directed the convict to pay Rs200,000 to the legal heirs of deceased

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Monday a convict to life imprisonment. The convict, Irfan alias Jabal, was found guilty of killing a head constable, Javed Akhtar, during an encounter in Mehmoodabad, last year. The ATC-IX judge, Farman Ali Kanasro, also directed the convict to pay Rs200,000 to the legal heirs of deceased. The court also handed him down another sentence of 13 years for offences of attempting to murder and attacking law enforcers. On these two counts, he was awarded a fine of Rs50,000.
