Planning ahead: Arrangements in Jhang being finalised

RO's have been directed to hand over ballot papers and voters lists to presiding officers 48 hours before polling day

The district administration, the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Police Department have finalised security and administrative arrangements for the third phase of local government elections in Jhang district on December 5.


The ECP has handed over election material – forms, tags, ballot boxes and ballot papers – to returning officers. A spokesperson of the district administration told The Express Tribune on Monday that 602 candidates were contesting elections in 109 wards in five municipal committees.


He said a comprehensive strategy had been evolved for polling day and arrangements were being completed on priority.


He said the ECP had kept the election material at Mai Heer Sports Complex from where it has been distributed among 20 returning officers. The returning officers have been directed to hand over ballot papers and voters lists to presiding officers 48 hours before polling day.
