    @Nobody:
    Religion is different for different people. There are many things which are now considered orthodox which were never part of the initial ideology or might have been considered to have been borrowed from regional faiths. Perhaps a look into the historical precedent of pilgrimage, circumambulation, and zoroastrian, and judeo-chrisitan tales might prove to be enlightening. At least they’re not killing people they disagree with unlike the deobandi/salafi brethren.

    Looks like peaceful devotees to me. Why would anyone have problems with it?

    Let them worry about their way of connecting to almighty and you should worry about your way.

    @Nobody: It sounds like your moral compass is off. What harm are the devotees at Data Darbar doing to you? If you don’t like their celebrations, don’t go there. Instead of worrying about them or their madness, wouldn’t you be better off worrying about the killing and corruption that goes on in all Muslim countries. To you the daily killings in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen Somalia or Afghanistan doesn’t matter? The corruption among the Gulf Arabs or in poor Central Asian countries doesn’t matter but you instead focus on spiritual people enjoying a festival in a way you disagree with? Shame.

    Many practices carried on at these events are against what these saints taught and propagated. It may come as a surprise to many in our Polarized society. But there are some people like myself who are against practices that are not Islamic as an opinion, yet we do not support violence as a mean to voice our displeasure with them.

    @Mj: They might not be killing any people but they are certainly killing lots of souls. Do you think any of these people will be in Janaat. No way.
