@KaliBilli: everyone who saw full moon is a witness that Friday, 31 August 2012,was a full moon night and according to this 14 day of Shawal was on Saturday 1st Sept, 2012; which means that Sunday was the 15th of Shawal. Now if you count the dates back till the 1st of Shawal you’ll come to know that the month of Shawal began on Saturday and Sunday 19 August 2012 was the first day of Shawal, hence it was Eid day. Got it??

P.S. Unlike a Solar month, Lunar month always starts at night, so night comes first and the day follows it.
