Oxford Univ. Press ought to invite parliamentrians to **Dosti Kitabon Se” event. As Mr. Ghazi Salahuddin wrote the other day in a different newspaper (not Tribune), a number of world leaders read a lot and imbibe some values they read in pages of books. We expect kith and kin of leaders in this country who can savy real problems, philosophize on them and move ahead to solve it in a bipartisan spirit, and refrain from politics based on providing jobs to their kinsmen and keep out all others in their constituency, specially the poor guy who cannot get hold of some one influential to back his claim.Jobbery and nepotism has brought Pakistan down. We expect our leaders to learn through books the disaster overtaking this country by giving jobs, making development projects in front of their own backyard, keeping out others from benefiting.

I believe that literacy is crucial to the acquisition, by every child, youth and adults. Every person needs to develop the ability to access, assess, and use information in a variety of ways.
This summer activity and the program organized by Oxford University Press surely be encouraged which surely fosters literacy and lifelong learning particularly for those who has less access to formal education.
Developing these activities in children can help them gather facts and suggest good solutions can make a useful contribution to the professional field.Recommend
