Obviously very high class of society, where women spend their life in competition with each other over issues of jewelry, clothing , latest fashion, make up trend in Europe etc.I was wondering if any of these ladies said, that if poor Pakistani,s are hungry, they should eat cake, instead of rooti.

These pictures are what I like to call hate bait. No one wants to see the lifestyles of the top 1 % in a country where more than 60% of the population lives on less that $2 a day. That is less than Rs.200. In a country where only revolution will equalize things, no amount of dole outs and charities these ladies give will compensate. Be humble be bold, be modest, and stop showing these people. In a poor country where people can;t afford food, this kind of stuff is economic pornography and in bad taste,

We have to show the world how our dresses and people look like. 5 years ago there were no photos from Pakistan on internet and people thought that all women wear hijab in Pakistan. Pakistan is so diverse and people need to realize it.

They all appear to have several things in common. All are extremely well off i.e. filthy rich (they will take that as a compliment, no doubt), they live in an insular world (nothing in common with average Pakistani) and they all appear very smug. Is that because of the first two points ?

    To Nazia Imran:

Tara Uzra Dawood is a scion of the Dawood family and is the CEO of Dawood Capital Management, one of the top mutual funds in Pakistan.

It goes without saying that you have to be somebody in the top 0.1 percent of Pakistani socioeconomic strata to get invited to such tea parties in DHA. Ordinary Joe Bloes can see the pictures on the paper but please bugger off.

At-least some, may be not all of them are part of the world-wide-web (w.w.w) of intelligent & ritzy Karachi women who out-smart on all counts, their counter-part Pakistani men!

I feel sorry for the men who have to inter-act with these kinds of intelligent & beautiful ladies!

I don’t understand what all the commenters here are griping about? Hey, nobody is forcing you to look at these pictures. And my guess is that it’s only men who are complaining– a case of sour grapes!
Of course they are out of the league of 99.9% of us Pakistanis but beauty and grace can be appreciated in and for itself, no?

Personally, I feel like this belonged more on the pages of GT than it did here, even though it is the Life & Style section. I’m sure people don’t really care who was at Ms. Dawoods tea party (all I really care about is that monstrosity she seems to be wearing as a head band. Actually I don’t really care but it’s the only thing that caught my eye in the slideshow because of it’s pure hideousness). I’m sure it was more of a let’s have pictures of this tea party up on the tribune and show people how a) they weren’t invited and b) my friends horribly dyed blonde hair. I mean serious what on Earth is up with that hair. The only thing this slideshow showed were the poor fashion choices of these women. I’m sorry but when did blonde haired desis come back into fashion. Hold on, when were they ever in fashion?

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has cancelled the Asset Management Licence of Dawood Capital Management Limited (DCML) and imposed a penalty of Rs20 million on its chief executive officer for providing “undue benefits” to his relatives and connected persons.
For details see today’s Dawn (business page).
All of you will understand how tea parties arranged, but this time at SECP :)
