Comparing this crap to a niqaab is in bad taste. ET please don’t ridicule Islam by comparing two unrelated things that are worn for very different reasons.

@ above comments :– Patriarchal society and hypocrisy at it’s best. ..If men can wear their fashionable bolyywood/hollywood style cloths. women have full rights to wear fashionable veil.

Fashion industry can indulge in what they please, and carry on with their all-sorts-of-crazies. But to relate something so horrid to something as sacred as ‘niqab’ is a downright offence to Muslims in general, and women in Particular. It’s alright if the “divas” now want to wrap around their faces in gold and silver, so long as they don’t compare it to a niqab, because that’s a completely different business. A lot of people may not understand or agree with the whole concept of veiling one’s face, which is fine really. So long as you don’t go around trying to revolutionize the system with your ‘open-mindedness’, this is just like poking fun at the women who do niqab.

These masks have no relation to niqabs. It’s for a fashion week where you push the boundaries of modern fashion. If it didn’t look extreme the diluted versions of clothes from the cat walk you all wear would be washed out grey bags…

    Fantastic pieces.

    No connection with religion.

I think this is more effective than a niqab because a niqab protects one from predators but this will scare them away !

People who think that niqab or hijab protects them from rape should think again. Most women raped or tortured in muslim countries are usually the ones who wear the hijab/niqab. Please take your heads out of the sand.

It’s not rocket science.ET is a Pakistani newspaper and they are doing their bit against religious bigotry.I would expect and welcome British/US and Indian newspapers to do the same against Christian and Hindu bigotry.
A sensible way to counter their views/opinions is to write an article of opposing view.
