Pakistani painter sorts paint pots in a truck decorating workshop in a suburb of Karachi on July 26, 2011. Truck art in Pakistan is considered to be an artistic expression by the truckers and painters. Colourful and intricately painted trucks are a tradition in Pakistan. The practice of decorating trucks has its roots in the days of the raj when craftsmen made colourful horse drawn carriages for the gentry. Different regions developed their own styles over time and some decorations served as reminders of home for drivers on long journeys. Although Pakistan is often described as a nation of low economic status, large amounts of money will change hands to decorate trucks. PHOTO: GIBRAN ASHRAF
